General Conference and Program Questions

WHERE WILL THE CONFERENCE SESSIONS BE HELD?

The ARMS Conference sessions will be held at the National Museum of New Zealand - Te Papa Tongarewa.

WHERE WILL THE PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS AND ACCREDITATION MODULES BE HELD?

The pre-conference workshops and accreditation modules will be held at National Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa and the Mac's Function Centre.

WHERE WILL THE COLLABORATION MEETINGS BE HELD?

The collaboration meetings will be leaving by bus from National Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa.

WHERE WILL THE GALA DINNER BE HELD?

The Conference Gala Dinner will be held in the Wellington Foyer, Te Papa on Thursday 28 September from 7.30pm with pre-dinner drinks commencing at 7.00pm.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR THE CONFERENCE?

For the conference days - smart casual attire.
For the welcome reception - smart casual attire.
For the gala dinner - lounge suit/evening wear.

DO I NEED TO WEAR A NAME BADGE?

Your name badge is your entry to the ARMS 2017 Conference sessions and trade exhibition. If you misplace your name badge, please go to the conference registration desk and ask for a replacement.

CAN I BRING EXTRA GUESTS TO THE SOCIAL EVENTS?

Yes, additional tickets can be purchased for the social events through the online registration.

IS CAR PARKING AVAILABLE?

Parking is available at Te Papa.

Payment can be made by cash, Eftpos or credit card (Amex, Mastercard, or Visa).

Daytime, 8am–5pm
$4 per hour, up to a maximum of $30
Lost ticket fee: $40

Evening and overnight 5pm–8am
$2 per hour (up to $8 when exiting before 2am, or up to $24 before 8am)
24-hour maximum: $40
Lost ticket fee: $40

How to pay
1. At the entry gate take a ticket.
2. Just before leaving go to a pay station and use cash (change is provided) or card to pay.
3. Drive to the exit gate and present your ticket.

Disabled Parking

Park close to our ground-floor entrance at one of five accessible car park spaces:

  • two uncovered
  • three covered.

WHEN DOES EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION END?

Early bird registration has been extended until Midnight Monday 3 July 2017

WHAT IS THE CUT-OFF DATE TO REGISTER FOR THE ARMS 2017 CONFERENCE?

The ARMS 2017 online registrations will not be available from Monday 25 September 2017.

Registrations will be available onsite at the conference from Tuesday 26 September 2017.

I NEED TO CANCEL - IS THERE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Conference Cancellation and Refund Policy
Delegates who find themselves unable to attend the conference after submitting a registration form are most welcome to nominate a substitute. In the case of a cancellation, delegates must inform Consec - Conference and Event Management in writing of their inability to attend. A refund of the registration fee, less a cancellation fee of $155.00 including GST will be made on or before Wednesday 23 August 2017. No refunds will be made to anything after Wednesday 23 August 2017. All refunds are made after the conference. Any changes made to a registration within seven (7) days of the conference will incur a $40.00 administrative fee.

Accommodation Cancellation Policy
Delegates who cancel their accommodation booking must inform Consec - Conference and Event Management in writing of their cancellation before Wednesday 23 August 2017.

In registering for this conference, relevant details will be incorporated into a delegate list for the benefit of all delegates (name, organisation, state/country only - in accordance with the Australian Privacy Amendment Act 2000) and may be made available to parties directly related to the conference including Consec - Conference and Event Management, The Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS), the conference organising committee, venues and accommodation providers (for the purposes of room bookings and conference options), key sponsors (subject to strict conditions) and parties associated with related conferences. DO I NEED PERSONAL INSURANCE?

Delegates shall be regarded in every aspect as carrying their own risk for loss or injury to persons or property, including baggage during the ARMS 2017 Conference. We strongly recommend that at the time of booking your travel and tours you take out a travel insurance policy of your choice. The policy should include the loss of deposit through cancellation, medical insurance, loss or damage to personal property, financial loss incurred through disruptions to accommodation or travel arrangements due to strikes or other industrial action. The organisers are in no way responsible for any claims concerning insurance.

WHAT WILL THE CLIMATE BE IN WELLINGTON IN SEPTEMBER

The month of September is characterised by gradually rising daily high temperatures, with daily highs around 14°C throughout the month, exceeding 17°C or dropping below 11°C only one day in ten.

HOW MUCH IS THE SERVICE CHARGE IN NEW ZEALAND?

The GST is taxed on goods and services and is usually charged at 15%.

Prices shown in shops and online include GST unless they say otherwise — the GST component of what you've paid is printed on your receipts.

WHAT IS THE CURRENCY IN NEW ZEALAND?

New Zealand's unit of currency is the dollar (NZ$). All major credit cards can be used in New Zealand, with Visa and MasterCard accepted most widely.

WHAT POWER PLUG DO THEY USE IN NEW ZEALAND?

New Zealand's electricity supply runs at 230/240 volts, and use angled two or three pin plugs (the same as Australia). Most hotels and motels provide 110 volt ac sockets (rated at 20 watts) for electric razors only.

SHOULD I TIP IN NEW ZEALAND?

Restaurant workers do not work only for tips in New Zealand, so do not feel obliged to leave a tip when paying your account. If the service was excellent, leaving a 10% gratuity is more than generous and your waiter or waitress will certainly appreciate it. Tipping taxi drivers in New Zealand is not a common practice.
